A Social Sciences Platform for Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Transformation (ASPECT)
Lead higher education institution (HEI): London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
HEI partners: Universities of Manchester and Sussex
CCF follow on funding award: £2,400,000
Aspect follow-on funding will mobilise the learnings from the first three years of the programme by expanding the membership, creating further additional good practice in social sciences commercialisation, capturing that practice and embedding it across the HEI community. Pilot programmes (including the Aspect Research Commercialisation Accelerator – ARC) will further iterate and continue, scaling up as they become an established part of the UK’s innovation infrastructure.
With academic engagement a top priority of the members, a particular focus will be paid to increasing such engagement, supporting building a nationwide pool of academic champions through the Aspect membership and exploring new ways to increase engagement with social sciences researchers and academics at all stages of their career.
In year two, Aspect will extend its focus to increasingly include the arts and humanities, aligned with SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy), and, building on our common roots, will look to work with the MedTech SuperConnector (MTSC) to better realise the huge potential in bringing together healthcare technology with the application of social sciences research.
